Are We There Yet?

Cover image for Are we there yet?

As we all return from the last of our fun and fabulous summer vacations, who hasn't heard these words uttered, "Are we there yet?"  Award-winning author and illustrator, Dan Santat, brings us another comical read that revs up just as our young protagonist zones into the outer limits of his bored brain.  Find it in our library to read what happens when your brain becomes TOO. BORED.

Parents need to know that Are We There Yet?  by Caldecott Medal winner Dan Santat (The Adventures of BeekleThe Unimaginary Friend) is a car trip that takes us on more than a journey to Grandma's. It takes us back in time -- past a Wild West train, a pirate ship, medieval jousting, and ancient Egypt, and stopping at a field full of dinosaurs. When a boy who's on his way to Grandma's birthday party gets antsy on the long trip, arrows direct the reader to turn the book around and the pages backward, and the car starts going back in time. The ride becomes a lot more of an adventure, and the story ends with a gently delivered life lesson about enjoying the present moment.
